I am perfectly happy with this device. I got nearly everything I want in a golf gps. I was initially unhappy with it when I first got it because the preinstalled maps were ba
Callaway LR550 Rangefinder
Product Description
There's nothing quite as frustrating as hitting your club perfectly only to see the ball fall 30 yards short of the green. Enter the Callaway LR550 laser rangefinder, which quickly and accurately measures the yardstick from up to 550 yards away. The LR550, which comes in a striking yellow case, offers multiple range-finding modes for your convenience. Callaway LR550 Rangefinder by Nikon The first target mode, for example, displays the range to the nearest target--useful when measuring the distance to a pin on the green with woods in the background. The rangefinder also boasts a continuous mode that ranges multiple targets in succession for up to eight seconds, so you can determine whether you have the right club to clear the sand trap or water hazard. Plus, targeting an object couldn't be easier thanks to the built-in reticle and LCD display, which combine to tell you when ranging is in progress.
The LR550 is also noteworthy from an optical perspective. The rangefinder's 6x monocular, for example, offers such features as multicoated optics, long eye relief (with a folding rubber eyecup for eyeglass wearers), and a waterproof, nitrogen-sealed housing. The LR550--which runs on a CR2 3-volt lithium battery (included)--comes with a carabiner for easy access and a matching yellow neoprene sport sleeve with a removable travel cover.

I purchased this rangefinder about a week ago, and it works EXCEPTIONALLY well. However, (per Kim's review) I see that the battery cover could come off, and be lost if you are not aware of it. To open the battery cover you need to push it in with your thumb or finger & turn about 1/8 turn, it will pop right off. I don't think it will accidentally come off very easily, but that is something to be aware of. Now, on to the real review of this product.
I've had a Golflogix GPS for about 3 years now, and have never been satisfied with it or the yearly price for keeping the maps updated. The smart phone apps that I have tried have been totally worthless. After seeing my friends using their rangefinders, I decided to try one. I know some rangefinders you have to be very steady & align your target with the reticle then push a button. NOT SO with the LR550. You push the power button once to turn on the reticle, then push it once more to put it in scan mode, and it scans anything & everything in the cross section of the reticle as you move over it including the FLAG, trees, bunkers, etc. It is fantastic!! As far as the working of this rangefinder goes, I would give more than 5 stars if I could.
I almost didn't consider getting this because of the Callaway name on it. I thought it was probably an over priced rangefinder with the Callaway name on it. I am so glad I read the reviews & purchased this rangefinder. It is actually made by Nikon. WARNING:do not buy one of the other Nikon 550's & expect it to perform well on the golf course. I'm told the LR550 is made for golf, and performs better than the regular (& cheaper) 550 rangefinders.
The reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the manual that comes with it is very poor, and (per Kim's review) it doesn't sound like there is very good support for this product. I know I went to the Nikon web site to see about getting a better manual, and Nikon doesn't even have a manual for the LR550. So, shame on Callaway for putting their name of a product & not supporting it. Shame on Nikon for making a product with very poor support for it.
Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder
This review is from: Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder (Sports)
I thought I was spoiled by playing at a course with a GPS on the carts, but the pinseeker has been an added pleasure. It's easy to use. Even if your shaking, you'll still get an accurate rating, so someone who is elderly shouldn't have the complaints that I've seen over the years. Bushnell Medalist Laser Rangefinder The advantage this has over the GPS is it gives the exact measurement to the pin, not to the front, middle and rear of the green. Ideally, having both sets of information would be great, but given the choice, the pin measurement is more beneficial. It also works in close whereas the GPS turns off very close and you can't drive on all fairways, especially near the greens, so you can get more consistent with your short game.

Bushnell Tour V2 Golf Laser Rangefinder
This review is from: Bushnell Tour V2 Golf Laser Rangefinder (Sports)
Have had the TourV2 Pinseeker a few weeks now and am absolutely happy with it. Easy to use, lightweight and just tucks into one of my golf bag pockets...in less than 30 seconds I can get a distance "read" and make a club decision. Bushnell Tour V2 Golf Laser Rangefinder Much faster than trying to figure out the distance or stepping off distances from markers on the course. When I select a club, it's nice to actually know the distance to the flag....and I find it useful to check distance to hazards, creeks, etc. Already seeing improvements in my scoring.

Bushnell Pro 1600 Golf Laser Rangefinder

I purchased this range finder last week and have played with it around the house and on one short round of golf. In order to keep the narrative short, I have listed some of the pros and cons below. Bushnell Pro 1600 Golf Laser Rangefinder Just a quick comment to say that, based on what I have read, you should know that if you play tournaments, the use of your device may not be allowed.

Marcy Recumbent Mag Cycle
This review is from: Marcy Recumbent Mag Cycle (Sports)
My husband and I were looking for a style of exercise bike that was easy on the posterior and on the wallet. The Marcy recumbent Mag cycle is both! My husband and my teenaged son were able to put it together in less than an hour (if you don't count the time in laying out the parts and reading through the instructions first). Marcy Recumbent Mag Cycle There were 2 washers left over, so I am assuming that the manufacturer included extras.
The monitor keeps track of the time that you spend exercising in each session, speed, distance traveled, calories burned, and it has an odometer. I was surprised about how quiet it is, as our previous upright exercise bike was quite noisy. The bike also has a dial to set the tension level (there are 8 levels).
I was able to buy the Marcy bike on sale for $127 and with super saver shipping through Amazon I was able to get free shipping and handling. This turned out to be a much better deal than through Walmart dot com.

Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike
This review is from: Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike (Sports)
I just purchased the Schwinn 240. It is the first exercise bike I have ever owned but have used others my friends had. This machine is light years ahead of what I've used before.
After having tried other brands I settled on this one due to how well it is constructed, ease of use etc. Schwinn 240 Recumbent Exercise Bike
I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because the instructions as to how to use it to get the most out of it SUCK! I wrote the company concerning this. It was *kind of* easy to initially set it up. (Don't set it up for Gu
Schwinn 140 Upright Exercise Bike
This review is from: Schwinn 140 Upright Exercise Bike (Sports)
This is actually the second 140 I ordered from Amazon; the first arrived damaged due to poor packaging (not a shipper error). Amazon immediately shipped out the replacement.
The instructions are acceptable, although it is helpful if you are handy; tools are provided (they work), but your own tools will make assembly faster. Schwinn 140 Upright Exercise Bike
Mechanically, the bike is superb; resistance transitions are smooth and you can change resistance anywhere in a program with one touch. It is so quiet that your spouse won't believe you if you tell her/him you are using it; it can't be heard from another room. The display is well lit and easy to read (it tilts to different angles but its flat position seems to be the easiest to read).
